Family- What’s In It For Mom?

Psalms 68:6- God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry [land].

Why does God set those who are alone in families? What’s in it for a mom who is sold out to the plan of God for her family?

As we continue looking at the concept of family, can we consider that the weakness of one limb (mother, father, children) might be directly related to a sickness in the body(the family)?

Moms are too often undervalued, underappreciated, and overworked. No matter how many children she has, regardless of whether she works at home or in the marketplace, loneliness can be a constant discouragement for moms. But, just like for dads, there are benefits provided through the family that God intends for us each to be a part of.

So, what’s in it for mom?
Safety and security- when all else is chaos
Confidence in partnership- courage to grow and step out through marital relationship
Opportunity to create and innovate- with wisdom endowed by God to meet challenges for the sake of her home and children
Reverence of her household- in the present and for generations to come
Eternal blessing- Christ’s reward for selfless service to the home

It is hard to get above the fray and beyond the immediate needs, but this list of benefits should expand your thinking and energize your efforts to engage in Family as God intends. To reap these benefits requires work and dedication, but for now, just envision what life can be like, mom, when you decide to accept the challenge.

Moms, how have you reaped the rewards of family in your life?
