Life is the Issue, Evil is the Enemy

(The featured image via Twitter @HuffPostMedia is murdered journalist James Foley, beheaded by ISIS in an act of terror that should be cause a declaration of war. Thoughts and prayers for the Foley family. Steven Sotloff, the 2nd American journalist murdered by ISIS, was depicted being beheaded by an ISIS militant in a video released Sept. 2nd. Prayers for his family as well. May we do what is necessary for justice.)

Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ AMP)

Racism (here, here, here, and any number of articles on Ferguson), religion, misogyny, political incorrectness, and many, many more are blamed for ills in our country and around the world. The loss of life attributed to these ethereal concepts is staggering.

I submit that the true culprit is people acting on the spirit of this age, an evil, humanistic spirit that plays right into Satan’s hand (notice I’m not blaming Satan, who critics of my analysis would find as or more ethereal than the -isms and -ogynies that they are throwing around. I’m simply acknowledging his existence and the pleasure he gets from seeing people act with all their might against the will of God.)

The one thing this spirit cannot stand is LIFE. Life is a temporal expression of Christ’s eternal reality for us, and evil can’t stand it. Kill a reporters, kill babies, kill innocent masses. Treat children as commodities, throw them away like trash, ignore the fact they are human. Classify certain people as infidels and behead, crucify, and shoot them execution style. The human spirit can’t get enough of it. We want to think we (humans) are better than this, but on the whole we aren’t. Anything about us that reflects on us better than these atrocities is the lingering result of God’s image in us, or the abundance of His Spirit in us, for those who choose to believe and receive Jesus as the scripture says:

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭38‬ KJV)

I have written on many of these issues lately. Here is a listing. I will keep writing, but at this point just wanted to point out the common thread in these horrible acts, or inactions, of humanity:
